A new study published in European Journal of Radiology evaluates whether QP-Prostate® improves radiologists’ ability to detect clinically significant prostate cancer (csPCa) on MRI across readers with different levels of experience.
Four radiologists (1 to 25 years of experience) read scans from 52 men who later underwent prostatectomy, which served as ground truth, under three conditions: reading alone, with AI assistance, and by AI alone. With AI assistance, lesion-level AUC improved for all four readers (+0.013 to +0.037, with confidence intervals excluding zero), and sensitivity rose significantly for three of the four readers, most notably for the least experienced one (from 0.41 to 0.49), with no loss of specificity.
The findings support QP-Prostate as a compelling step toward more accurate, more consistent prostate MRI interpretation for every reader.
